NBFA is one of the commonly used perfluoroalkyl sulfonylating reagents. It is generally used for the perfluoroalkyl sulfonylation reactions of phenolic hydroxyl groups, amines, and enols, and it has high reactivity and excellent selectivity.

Core Applications

1. Superacid Catalyst

• Generates HNTf₂ (Bistriflimide acid), 10³× stronger than H₂SO₄, used in:

  • Friedel-Crafts acylation (yield >95%)

  • Carbocation polymerization (e.g., isobutylene)

2. Lithium Battery Electrolyte

• Additive (0.5-2 wt%) to improve Thermal stability (400°C）
